One of the most rewarding aspects of the 2020-21 Budget was speaking to the Hopetoun P-12 College and Merbein P-10 College school leaders about their funding victories.

Hopetoun P-12 College was allocated $10.5 million while $5.937 million was invested in Merbein P-10 College for major upgrades.
There were literally tears of joy at Merbein, which has waited 10 years to finally get the funding needed to complete the merged college.
The funding will help with the construction of administration, library, science and canteen facilities.
Before Christmas I joined Minister for Education James Merlino on a tour of Hopetoun P-12 College.
We spoke to students, teachers and principal Graeme Holmes and witnessed the food technology and science classrooms which are in dire need of upgrades.
Giving students the best facilities is an investment in our future. Having a modern, sophisticated learning environment will help stimulate and encourage our young people to grow and excel through their education.
Both of these colleges have waited years for funding to complete their upgrades, and the 2020-21 Budget finally delivers the infrastructure investment those school communities deserve.
